Dr Adiel Webner is an experienced General Surgeon practising at Melomed Gatesville and Bellville. Over the past few years, he has developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of the communities he serves, including dedicated teachers, policemen, and cleaning staff. Committed to providing the best care for these vital members of society. Dr Webner continually advances his skills to ensure effective, compassionate treatment that supports their demanding roles.
Dr Webner grew up in Bonteheuwel and attended Garlandale High School in Athlone. He completed his MBChB at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained an FCS(SA) qualification from the CMSA. In 2007, he earned a BSc in Medical Bioscience at UWC, specialising in Medical Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology and Biotechnology. He also completed courses in basic surgical skills, advanced trauma life support and definitive surgical trauma care.
He began his medical career as an intern at Groote Schuur Hospital and completed his community service at Kimberly Hospital, gaining valuable experience in Cardiothoracics. He then served as a Medical Officer in Surgery at Khayelitsha and Karl Bremer Hospital before starting his surgical registrarship at Tygerberg Hospital in 2015. Dr Webner completed his MMED in General Surgery and FCS in 2021.
In 2020, he worked as a Medical Officer (Locum) at Tygerberg’s Breast and Endocrine Unit and later served as the Head of the Acute Care Surgery Unit. From March to August 2021, he was acting consultant for Acute Services at Tygerberg Hospital.
Dr Webner’s dedication to minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery reduces the need for large abdominal scars and shortens recovery times, even in complex bowel cancer cases. He is also committed to offering the latest treatments for haemorrhoids and fistulae, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.
After a 21-year journey to become a General Surgeon, Dr Webner values the holistic nature of his speciality and the direct impact it has on patients’ lives. He now performs a wide range of general surgery procedures at Melomed, employing both minimally invasive and open techniques.
Known for his thorough consultations and patient-centred approach, Dr Webner is passionate about delivering care that helps patients regain optimal health quickly, especially those who serve as the breadwinners of our communities.
